Adam Scott & Crestwood Intermediate Schools Transition

Welcome to the web page established to keep parents, guardians, students, staff and community members up to date on the transition to:

  • the new Crestwood Intermediate School by Grades 7/8 students at James Strath, Kawartha Heights, Millbrook/South Cavan and North Cavan Public Schools, and from the Westmount PS English program

  • the move of Westmount PS Grades 7-8 French Immersion students to Adam Scott Intermediate.

These changes will come into effect September 1, 2020.  As promised, KPR has formed a joint Board/school/community Transition Committee to recommend ways to make this change as smooth and welcoming as possible for all involved. The Transition Committee, which met for the first time on March 5, 2020, includes the principal or vice-principal, a student, a parent chosen by the school council, and a staff member from each affected school; Westmount PS has two student representatives, one each for the English and French Immersion programs.

Ideas generated at Transition Committee meetings will help in planning effective activities for students, families and staff, such as evening open houses, athletics, extracurricular opportunities, transportation, school scheduling and more.  Check back often to see the latest news from Transition Committee discussions. See the links in the box at the left for more information. In addition, if you wish to reach Transition Coordinator Tanys Howell directly, you may do so at or at 705-875-8763.

We also have established a new email address for you to send all questions you may have regarding the Transition Committee and the related changes coming to the Crestwood Family of Schools:

As always, if you have specific concerns regarding how your child will be affected by the transition, please speak with the teacher or principal.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope you and your families have been well through this extraordinary time.

This is an update regarding the Adam Scott and Crestwood Intermediate Schools transitions. While we do not have any direction from the Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education as to what school will look like in the fall, or when and how school may safely resume, we have been working virtually to prepare transition activities and processes to support your child/children as they move from their current school to their new school.

We have completed virtual tour videos with introductions by the Principals for both Adam Scott and Crestwood and have posted them on our website this week.

As always, should you have any questions particular to your child, please contact your school administrators. For questions regarding the transition, you may contact Tanys Howell, Transitions Coordinator Principal, at and by phone 705-875-8763.
