KPR Statement on Courtice Secondary School Incident

On the evening of Friday, March 3, 2023, the school administration became aware of a concerning incident of Islamophobia at Courtice Secondary School, which occurred earlier in the day. Specifically, a student damaged a copy of the Quran.
While we cannot comment on individual disciplinary actions, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board takes all allegations of discrimination seriously and is taking immediate steps to address this very serious incident.

The Passport to Reconciliation program at KPR was launched in November 2021 as a way for school communities to work together and actively engage in broad-based collective learning and action year-round.
